Terminal 21 Bangkok....

This is my new find in Bangkok-in terms of new shopping and eating place that is, Terminal 21 Mall, in Sukhumvit, Bangkok.

This shopping place is different from others as it features a novel concept of a shopping mall built in an airport themed environment-hence the name Terminal 21.

the multi levels view with airport like signboards on each floor

Each level is also designated with different name of the world famous city and yo large airport-like signboards will welcome you as you arrived from the escalator at each floor. Here you will arrive at Istanbul-Level 3 or San Francisco-Level 4 etc...i love this concept and idea-so creative!

And to ensure the continuity of the concept, each level has been designed to mimic the design of the relevant cities such as bazaar liked design at Level 3-Istanbul.

There's a cineplex at the top level of this mall and this area was also aptly decorated and designed to reflect the cinema inspired theme, complete with a big Oscar statue!

There's a food court located at 5th floor called Pier 21 and surprisingly the foods are dirt cheap here! You can have a dish for merely THB 30 and the price ranges around THB 20 to THB 100 only...that's a bargain i would say for this kind of place. Had a very delicious mango sticky rice dessert here as well..so wonderful to see that they sprinkled those sesame seeds as it surely enhanced and add up more flavour to this delicious dessert. Note as well there's a single stall selling halal food here. Anyway-apart from the food court, there are many other eateries which may suit your palate in this mall.

you will also find a replica of Golden Gate here....

a wonderful lighthouse inside a shopping mall

I believe there's nowhere else that you will find more modern toilet bowl installed anywhere as here they have this modern mechanical toilet bowl complete with push buttons for different modes of water dispenser. I hope this will not be vandalized though as it will definitely cost fortune to repair or replace them!

So if you are already too familiar with the usual shopping spots in Bangkok, do "check-in" and take a "flight" to Terminal 21 for a new shopping experience.Kay2012.

Chocolate Ville-Bangkok

Bangkok is a vibrant city. You will definitely find many interesting places which had been established many years ago and yet there are new places sprouted across the city for you to visit as well, making your choices of sightseeing endless.

Aside from the usual touristy places within central Bangkok, nowadays you'll find new shopping malls/shopping area/attractions being built on the outskirt of Bangkok such as the Bang Na area, an area located in between the city centre and the Suvarnabhumi Airport. This area is currently housing the largest IKEA store in Asia and also the biggest mall in Thailand, Mega Bangna. Not to be forgotten is the IMPACT exhibition arena which is located in Muangthong Thani, also on the Bangkok outskirt.

During my recent trip to Bangkok, me and T had the chance to visit another interesting new place called the Chocolate Ville. It is located in Ram Inthra, around 40 minutes by car from centre Bangkok. Chocolate Ville is actually a restaurant  with a concept of the dining areas constructed to replicate a small town in the West. You will find most of the buildings that you'd find in the West here such as a boathouse, a windmill, a dairy mill, a conservatory and all the other buildings with western architectural theme. Being here will make you forget that you are actually in smouldering hot Bangkok.

We went there around afternoon just to know that it only opens from 4pm to midnight. Further, if you intend to eat here, advanced reservation of at least a day before your visit is advisable. Will definitely go there next time to taste the food that they serve here, but for now, do enjoy the wonderful pictures that we captured during our wander around the area. Cheers-Kay 2012.

Going M.I.C.K.E.Y for the day.........Disney on Ice 2012

Truth be told...ive always wanted to watch Disney on Ice show since my young(er) years. Unfortunately i never managed to (or even made any effort to) materialize the dream until recently..and coincidentally they are having the show in Bangkok at the time im in my second home with my love T. What better way to enjoy this show than with your loved ones, so without hesitation i purchased 2 tickets online for the second tiered seats worth THB900 each. For the note, the ticket would always cost more for the show in KL, so overall this was a good deal.

As we have to collect the ticket 1 hour before the start of the show at 7 pm, we made our way from our hotel in Sukhumvit to IMPACT Arena, located in Muangthong Thani, around 45 minutes from central Bangkok well around 5pm. IMPACT Arena is a dedicated exhibitions and expos venue in Bangkok where most of the big international show such as the motor show are held.

The area was already crowded with would be spectators, mostly families with small children. There were few stalls set up around the entrances to the venue hall selling Disney themed merchandises and food stuff. We were already seated around 1 hour before the show and the hall eventually filled up with spectators until none of the seat, especially in our area was left empty.

1 hour before the show...........

all are set for the show.........

the arena started to fill up...T can be seen standing and calling the popcorn seller..he was also drawn by the childhood atmosphere of the arena and bought himself a bucket of Disney themed popcorn, but asked me to carry it afterwards as he was shy!

then the show started...im getting excited at this stage..eventhough the whole show was narrated in Thai to cater for the locals....at least i enjoyed it visually :)

the handsome Aladdin..and he had a shirtless scene afterwards as well..very nice body indeed ;)

birthday party scene of the show...........

magic brooms dancing........

halloween segment...and all the evil Disney characters were featured here...........

The show lasted for around 1 hour 40 minutes including an interim break of 5 minutes. It was perfectly choreographed and the props were amazing whereby i could really feel the magical feeling that they tried to instill in this show, similar to their on screen productions.

The show was segregated into few segments depicting scenes from famous Disney movies and also themes such as horror/halloween theme and love theme whereby all the couples from movies such as Snow WHite, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin were featured. In all the segments, Mickey and Minnie took centre stage and the main characters.

It was a truly fun night for me and T and if this show comes to your town, dont hesitate to buy the tickets as it'll promise you a wonderful and magical time of your life with your loved ones! Kay2012

A Colonnial Styled Hotel In the Heart of Bangkok-Salil Hotel Sukhumvit Thonglor

Another trip to my 2nd hometown means another new place ventured with my love T. This time around we spent our weekends together in a very beautifully designed hotel located in the quiet area of Sukhumvit Soi Thonglor 1, the Salil Hotel. There's another Salil Hotel which is located in Sukhumvit Soi 8.

The first thing that made me (yes T as well) fell in love with this hotel is the design of the hotel's building which replicated the designs of English houses but wonderfully painted with colourful hues of Mediterranean styled pastels tone and tilings. The same theme is also applied to the design of its rooms whereby the room, though small in size, is wonderfully painted with vibrant colours and styled  to give the feeling at home to the guests. We both dream to have the same kind of bedroom in our houses.

Currently the hotel consists of 2 separate buildings whereby our room is located in the building named "Granada".The reception area is located in the pink coloured building named "Saville".

Views of the beautiful buildings..................

Views of the room, there's also a small balcony, wonderful! And the bed is sooo comfortable and the best part of it, 2 fluffy pillows each and one small cushion, i love having many pillows on my bed.

32 inch LCD TV, sorry for the messy table shot, T is a messy boy :)

Door to the balcony...........

and the view outside of the balcony, the hotel was beautifully lit up  giving it a resort feel, down below is the Cafe de Salil where we had our daily breakfast. Breakfast offerings are quite minimal but you do get your usual cereals, toast juices as well as local dishes.

The location of this hotel may be quite secluded from the nightspots of Bangkok, however if you are like me, who loves to have some peace and quite but at the same time not being too far out from the  heart of the actions, you'll definitely love this hotel, and i say it again i do love this hotel and will definitely come back.

The staffs are generally friendly and there's also free internet stations at the reception are. If you love to feel at home while you are away, i truly believe this hotel will suit your needs. This is a 4 stars boutique hotel and quite affordable as the rate per night would only be below THB 2000, if you search for room deals on the net. Kay2012
