There was really no hassle in getting comfortable and affordable accommodation in Medan wherein there are many hotels ranging from the budget type to the luxurious Marriott can be found in this city. As we were in semi-budget type of traveller, we made sure that the hotel must have sufficient amenities, safe, comfortable and centrally located and near to the attractions.
In Medan, we stayed at the newly opened Hermes Palace Hotel. This is a 3 Stars hotel which is located in the heart of Medan at Jalan Pemuda. Most of the famous tourist attractions such as Masjid Raya, Istana Maimoon and the water tower are within walking distance from this hotel.
Barely a year old, everything here still looks brand new and it does look like a 4 stars hotel by looking at its exterior facade. We booked ourselves a Standard Room for the 3 days 2 nights trip. There are 2 single beds made available in this room. Additional bed can be arranged at extra charges.

Looking at your left...the bathroom...very spacious with closed-in shower....love the fact that they have included comb as part of the amenities in addition to the usual such as shampoo, soap, tooth brush....
the comfortable bed...........take note that the curtain was merely an "accessory" as there was no window in this room type.

the best thing about this hotel is that it has a roof top bar and restaurant whereby they play live musics during the weekends and they also serve their breakfast here...the view from the top was totally splendid as you will get not only birds eye view of the city but also an all around 360 degrees view of the same. We could even see what aircraft is flying into the airport as the hotel is very close to the airport.
On the first day, we had our complimentary welcome drink at the rooftop Sirocco Bar........it was some kind of fruit punch...very sweet but refreshing....

come morning, we came again to have our breakfast..with the best view in town....the breakfast selections were quite limited to some local dishes such as fried rice/noodle, rice porridge, toasts, cereals and fruits.
overall it was a comfortable stay in this hotel not only because of the services and facilities offered at an affordable price, the staffs were friendly and attentive as well. Surely this hotel is recommendable for anyone planning to visit Medan due to its central location, price and services offered-Kay2011
